For over a decade, Spider 9 axles and components have taken racers to an all new level of off-road performance. Our unique approach to engineering & manufacturing has pushed our racers to 1st place championships. Our Ultimate Axle Shafts were designed specifically for our own Ultimate & Pro Series Knuckles. That is, until now.

We are proud to release our Ultimate Axle Shafts for GM 1-Ton Axles (a.k.a. kingpin knuckles running 1480 joints). We've designed these shafts with one goal in mind: to get you on the podium. Packaged in our unique webbed design is an axle shaft that is capable of 50 degrees of steering, which is now the industry's tightest steering angle in-class. Available in both 4340 and 300M materials, Ultimate Axle Shafts can work for a range of budgets as well.

This axle shaft set is designed and intended to be used in a ’77-’91 GM 1-Ton Solid Axle. It is manufactured entirely out of billet 300M material (2-piece design) and accommodates a 1480 joint.

Aerospace Quality

We don’t use the term “aerospace” lightly. Ultimate Axle Shafts are manufactured out of the finest domestic 4340 & military grade 300M, but there’s much more that makes it aerospace worthy. We follow the strictest AMS aerospace standards for our heat treatment, with 300M receiving double tempering, snap tempering, and cryogenic treatment procedures. Parts are sampled to ensure proper grain structure is achieved up to 0.0003” from the surface, that’s a depth 1/10 the thickness of a human hair! You’re getting the finest materials and the best heat treatment on the market.

Ultra Hi-Angle

There are many advantages of Ultimate Axle Shafts, but one that stands out from the crowd is our unique approach to yoke design. Our "webbed" yoke allows for ultra hi-steering angles, up to 50 degrees without interference. Rock crawlers have come to demand this level of steering angle, if you need an edge over the competition hi-angle steering is where it's at. Rock racers have also come to demand this level of steering; while you're not spending the entire day in the rocks, the time you are requires negotiating with speed and precision. Simply put, you'll have the tightest steering on the trail and in competition.

Billet Construction

We work with only the finest domestic 4340 & military grade 300M materials, and in our effort of controlling the accuracy of materials we work only with billet stock. Forgings have their place; in the off-road axle shaft market forgings are used to drive down the cost of manufacturing. Unfortunately, this lower cost tends to create lower quality, with issues of material defects and consistency becoming commonplace in aftermarket axle shaft forgings. Whether it's our 1-piece stub or 2-piece inner Ultimate Axle Shaft, every single part is manufactured out of domestic grade billet material.

Manufacturing Perfection

We pride ourselves on holding the tightest manufacturing tolerances in the business. We take our in-house manufacturing & engineering very seriously, and never cut corners for the sake of saving a few dollars. The Ultimate Axle Shaft is no exception to this rule. Shafts are manufactured, heat treated, and then returned to the manufacturing table to ensure those high tolerance dimensions are perfect. After heat treatment, we bore the holes for the u-joint caps in one single operation, and in that same setup fly cut the insides of both ears to ensure proper u-joint spacing. Precision from start to finish.
